December 1 2009-2010 Honda Motorcycles Compared
Dear Readers,
This morning I tackled the Honda line-up for 2010 ... what an
interesting exercise that was! A lot of models are still showing
up as 2009, but does that mean that these will cease to be manufactured
once inventory is cleared? You'll definitely want to look at the new
line of 1300cc bikes ... moving the VTX1300 out and coming in with a
1300 Custom Line, as Honda calls it. Two new sport-style models are
juicy as well. Take a look at the 2009-2010
Honda comparison for yourself! – Mama
Dear VTwin Mama,
Hope all is well. Last winter I wrote in about a good starter bike. I
got a Hyosung GV650 ... it was a great starter for me. I am 5'5"
and a plus-sized woman.
I now have a HD Dyna Street
Bob and love every moment of riding it. My Hubby and I are planning a
trip to Sturgis next summer, can't wait!! The information I found on
this site was soo helpful in starting with the right type of bike and
the motivation and encouragement to keep on riding is priceless. Thank
You, – Karen in the Pacific Northwest
Dear Karen,
Way to go! Joyful follow-up letters are the
best! I had a chance to ride the Street Bob once when I was giving
private riding lessons and I really did enjoy the experience ... glad to
hear that this motorcycle is making you happy ... and planning a trip is
a lot of fun over the winter months. Ride On! –

December 2 2009-2010 Yamaha Motorcycles Compared
Dear Readers,
What's a morning these days without taking a look at some
specific motorcycle manufacturers' specifications?!?!?! So, this time I
went to Yami's site and tootled around for a bit, probably locking up
their servers with my incessant clicking and use of the back
arrow. But, the job did got done, and if it's of interest to you,
take a look at the 2009-2010
Yamaha comparison for yourself! – Mama

December 3 2009-2010 Triumph Motorcycles Compared
What's left in the major categories? Ducati, Moto Guzzi,
Ridley, and Suzuki. Some are still showing 2009 information, while
others simply aren't showing prices at all. I'll keep monitoring the
sites and bring you those updates when they become available. – Mama

December 4 VTwin Mama Reviews Chicks
On Bikes
Dear Readers,
pro·voc·a·tive adj. Tending to provoke or
stimulate.
If I had only one word to describe Chicks On Bikes, the new
coffee table book by photographer Christina Shook, provocative is the
one I would use. But then I have lots more to say about what lies
waiting for you in these 156 pages. Read
my review for Chicks On Bikes!

December 10 Canada Pulls Together
Women Riders' Congress
Dear Readers,
I was just rooting around the VTwin
Mama Message Board when I caught a mention of something interesting
in the Hot Topics section. The Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada (MCC)
noticed growing Canadian attendance at the AMA Women's Conference, so on
August 11-15, 2010, Canada will be hosting their first ever International
Women Riders Congress and Festival (IWCF). Wow, that's great news!
Especially for those on the east coast who couldn't make it to Colorado
this year, here's a chance to participate in an all women's event.
Plenty of time to plan! – Mama

December 10 2009-2010 Ridley Motorcycles
NOT Compared
Dear Readers,
I had noticed that Ridley wasn't showing a 2010 line-up of
models, but instead touting it's new certified pre-owned program. I saw
an announcement to this affect on the Cyril
Huze Blog, which I monitor for the VTM
News section. – Mama
Dear Readers,
As you can tell, things have gotten very quiet here at the VTwin
Mama site! This is not an unusual phenomenon as most people are busy
preparing for their holiday season, myself included.
There are a few last minute discount coupons for you
late shoppers, which are always found on the Motorcycle
News page ... and don't forget that the Holiday
Gift Guide can be useful as well.
Ridley Motorcycle Company, the manufacturer of auto
tranny motorcycles, has announced an interesting new tool ... a center
stand for the Auto-Glide. It fits all 2003-2009 models (except the
Chopper) and is normally $103, but till the end of the year, it can be
purchased for just $80. Want to learn more? Watch the YouTube instructional
video!
On Monday I'll be posting my review of the new travel
book from RoadRUNNER magazine entitled "Riding America's Backroads."
Once the holidays are over, I know we'll all be dreaming, scheming, and
planning for the upcoming riding season, and this could be one new
source of information to make it a joyous one! – Mama
Dear Readers,
Yes, there are letters in the email in-box, updates to the
rider's map and message board, and a pile of other to-do items on my
list. So why am I not doing these things at the moment?
I'm pondering a business decision I need to make by the
end of the year and it's taking a lot of research as well as soul
searching to come to the right conclusion.
This will not affect the continuation of this site or
the message board ... those will continue as always as they are my core
mission. Many of you know that I retired last year and have slowly
reduced my load of work ... so I may take another step yet, and that's
what's got my thinking cap on! Not to worry ... I'll be back in full
swing very soon. – Hugs and Happy New Year, Mama
