Thought you might like to see before and after pictures of
my ride -- 2003 FXSTB Softail Night Train. Modifications made to date:
**First WE (this I didn't do alone) lowered the bike
2" by installing a Performance lowering kit. What I needed help with
was removing the old ones (the extra kicking power breaking those torqued
bolts) once removed I rebuilt the shocks myself. Installing the buffered
ones was hard because the modified shocks have a longer shaft. My bike
being brand new didn't have any play in it's primary belt. Needles to
say.... we finally got it.
**New handle Bars, Removed stock cafe/drag bars and put
on Pull Back handle bars purchased off of EBAY.
**6" Straight Risers. I originally had 4 1/2"
pull back risers with the stock cafe bars but I had a really hard time
standing up the bike and an even harder time walking the bike.
**Because of the new bars and risers the clutch cable
and brake lines had to be changed so I opted for stainless steel braided,
even thought I want to minimize chrome on my night train.
**I also installed an EX Boy clutch at the same time and
new throttle and Idle braided wire cables as well. -- Jen

Thank you for being there for motivation and
encouragement. I still have days where I question am I up to riding. I
click on your site and those thoughts are gone and I am eager to get out
and ride. I love to ride, it's people in cars that drive me crazy some
times. My '95 Suzuki 800 Intruder is just right for my inseam challenged
stature. I went from a Honda Rebel to the Intruder and just love it. I
have a 1200 Harley Sportster and had it lowered, and a easy clutch (rather
than having to use the jaws of life, to use the clutch) my feet
still don't touch the ground. So I let my son ride it. Thank you again for
your inspiration and web site.

It's the week of August 25, 2003 and Harley's 100th
birthday celebration is underway later this week. This billboard
from BMW is just so fun! Nothing like hundreds of thousands of
loud pipes! The residents in Milwaukee have probably cornered the
market on ear plugs!

Turning 50 last year challenged me to tackle riding
myself. Being a passenger was not enough, and seeing so many other
woman riders here in Arizona, gave me confidence. I took the
safety class TEAM AZ October 2002, and started out on a Honda
Shadow 500 cc. It was 18 years old and could barely get out of
it's own way. But a good starter bike. Upgraded to an HD Low Rider
but it proved to be too heavy. Settled in on my 2000 HD 883
Sportster Hugger. I LOVE IT!
Thanks for a great website to encourage,
motivate and enhance our lives! -- Barbara Crumley in Gilbert, AZ

Here's VTwin Mama herself (aka Petra) getting ready
to leave for the WOW ride-in in Prescott, AZ on my friend Cindy's
750 BMW. Gear is not loaded yet, but I've got my new favorite
T-shirt on (sent to me by Kevin and Terri of Australia) -- it's
original Aborigine artwork! Yahoo!
Made it to Sedona, AZ one day -- that's a Large
lime VTwin Mama tank I'm wearing! Since Arizona is a no-helmet
state, this is the one time I didn't wear a helmet -- just to
remember the freedom of it. Still, it felt weird!
What views! What curves! See the road at the
bottom right corner? That will give you some "scale" on
how glorious this canyon was!
Yes, the ground really is red in this area!
Here I am hawking VTwin Mama logo stuff by WOW's
registration area -- and basically talking up the site! I meet so
many great women this way!

Here is a picture of my bike -- it is a Vulcan 800
Drifter, and she is all mine...Mine is the cool looking red and
white one. The "other" bike is my husbands. He rides a
Sportster. Personally, I like mine better.. Bonnie

Here's a photo of me and my CBR bike. I'm starting to get a bit
cold down here, instead of going first thing in the morning for a
long ride, I'm starting to wait 'till around lunch when it's
warmed up hehe. MJ in New Zealand

Submitted by VTwin Mama brother Bruce, but he
doesn't remember who sent it to him. I'd give due credit if anyone
has an idea of who took this photo (I added the words myself).

Terri has recently got a 600 Ducati
Monster with a factory fitted 680 racing kit, twin disc kit, solo
seat and two into one Conti Italian pipe. (sounds awesome).
She's been riding for many years and holds a Motorcycle
Instructors license. I've been riding so long I'm outlasted
several bike manufacturers. That's all for now, again, great site.
Take care: Best wishes -- Kevin and Terri from Australia

Finally, here is a pic of
me and my lady. My two passions are serving my country for
21 plus years and riding my INDIAN SPIRIT. I started riding
about 30 years ago on a 125 Honda (dirt bike), LOL look at me
now!!! I grew up on my Dad's '48 Indian and always dreamed
of owning one someday, well that day finally arrived when I rode
by an Indian shop on my 2002 Harley Lowrider and discovered that
the "Legend was back". After a few long nights of
yearning for the red and cream Indian just like dad's I traded my
Harley for the Indian. My two grand-daughters (3yrs/1yr)
thinks it's cool to have a grand-ma riding motorcycles. They
both have small motorized bikes now, one Harley and one Indian
with training wheels and they're going to grow up to be just like
grand-ma. So here I am the "Officer and her Lady."

I have been riding my own ride for 3 years. I
started on a 250 Rebel, then moved onto the 500 Shadow and now I
am riding a '02 750 Shadow Spirit. I love it! I am 29
yrs. old and am married and have a 9 yr. old son. We ride as
a family. My Dad rides with a lot too. I live in
Ontario Canada, and ride when ever I can as we have winter for 10
months of the year!!!! -- Evelyne

Finally got my Jim to slow down long enough to take
a picture of me and my Honda 750 Shadow Spirit "El Nigro",
a Spanish name because we live very close to the Mexican
border and he is black..... This was taken in front of my
rhododendrons/azaleas. They are over 20 years old and 10 feet
tall. I live in New Caney, Texas and have great weather to ride
all year. I have been riding motorcycles for 33 years. Had to stop
long enough to birth my daughter, raise her and then send her on
her way........Her dad and I started riding again last summer and
enjoying every minute of it. -- Marigold (note: you can see
Marigold's pixie rider sculptures on the Gift
Sources page!)

I am some what new to the group. I don't have a
very big bike -- only have a 125 as I am a new rider. The end of
April, I will have made the 'six month' rule. -- Mary, One

This is my beautiful wife
Sharon. She got her first bike last summer, a really clean Yamaha
Virago 535. I gave her a few lessons and she caught on very fast.
She logged over two thousand miles last summer riding with me and
her Dad. She is totally hooked now and I am very proud of her.
Thanks for your great Website. -- Barry

I am 64 -- started riding at 63 with MSC and got my
license last Sept. Married, 4 grown sons, husband older than me
who is still working! He has also just completed a 4 year course
to become a Deacon in our Church and was Ordained Feb. 15 by the
Bishop of Richmond, VA. He does not ride! I am a registered nurse
-- just work once in a while.
My parents are not happy with my riding -
some of my sons do not like it either as they rode when they were
children and stopped when a friend died in a MC wreck. We live in
Hillsville, VA which is near I-77 and NC line.
I ride a '86 Rebel 250 and a 2002 Suzuki Savage
650. -- Joan

I have been riding mc for about 25 years and more.
I started with a Honda 350 4 cylinder, in a year or two
moved up to a 750/4 then a few years not riding. Then went to a
600 Honda shadow VLX , then to 750/4 Magna. All Hondas. They were
all great bikes, especially the Magna and won many awards with
that one. But this 1800 is just heads and feet above all the rest
and I've tried them all. Its amazing how quick and easy to ride
this baby is, that's why I have 23,000 miles on it in only 2 years
of riding/owning it. It has most of the obligatory Chrome (just
love that) and many extras. It also has won a few awards already,
and she is only 2 years old -- Joy

This is a great site. I think it's about time “BIKER”
is considered a unisex term. I've only been riding about a year.
My boyfriend and I started riding together. We belong to a
wonderful riding club, Southern Cruisers Riding Club (SCRC). About
six of the female members ride their own bikes. Lets go girls -
don't just be an ornament.
This is a picture of me on my bike right after I
got it. I was still just riding in empty parking lots on the
weekends. My Christmas present this year was to have my bike
painted just the way I wanted it. -- Ruth Anne Ricker

This is a photo of me on the bike that I had
just gotten home from the bike shop having new Vance & Hines straight-shot
pipes put on her. Now my friend won't ask me if I have my bike
cranked?!?!?! and I will be able to say, "Can you hear me
now????" Sounds great and I think she looks pretty good too.

Yes, we made it to the Javits Center (NY) for the
bike show. It was a much needed break from everything! A good time
was had by all and I finally got to sit on the only bike that
might pry me off my Virago. First chance I get I will be in line
at dawn somewhere to demo ride the BMW 650 CS, it's awesome, and
the factory stereo on a smaller bike is a big selling point for
me. It would run about $10k all dressed with soft luggage. -- Inga

My name is Debbie and I live in northwestern
Washington. My first year of riding I put on almost 10,000 miles
on the bike in this picture. Its a custom VLXCD 600 and I am still
going strong...although the weather here does put a damper on
things!
My favorite is touring and camping on a
motorcycle. I have been doing this all my life although I have
only had my own ride for the last 16 months. But I believe that I
have it down to a science now. I can pack my bike for 9 weeks of
camping and still have room for little gifts to bring home.
However, I do mail most of my stuff home.
I am looking for a bigger bike this year and
hope to move up to the Harley family. My other half is teaching me
to do all my own maintenance work in our home shop and we do all
of our own custom work. -- Debbie F

Thought you'd be interested in my new ride. '02
Honda Shadow Sabre. Bob told me a 650 wouldn't be enough. I was
sure he was wrong until I rode his Road Star Silverado. Phew!
Okay, now I got the picture!! This 1100 is a nice compromise in
size between his VERY powerful bike and "sort of"
powerful bike. And since the 650 was the "Cat's
Meow,"this lovely beast is my new "Grey Cat." Big
enough now so when I take it to work and on the highway, I don't
feel like everyone's going to run me over! -- Barb
